Rustic Parisian Breakfast Nook Design Plan

There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes lately, that I have only really given a few glimpses of on my Instagram Stories.  I think in the mad dash to get as many projects finished as possible right in the beginning stages of this house, I’ve totally forgotten to let y’all in on some of the ideas brewing around in my head.  I have a hard time keeping up sometimes.

But the latest room on my mind has been the breakfast nook.  It’s right off of the kitchen and living room and is the first room we walk into from the garage, so it’s going to see a lot of action in our family day-to-day.

This is what it looked like the day we closed on the house:

Nothing wrong with it.  I just had something else in mind that suited our style a little more.

Right now, it looks like this after painting the walls Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee, trim in Simply White, and door in Wrought Iron.  The laundry room bi-fold door is getting swapped out this weekend and will be painted Wrought Iron too.

So now, here’s the direction I’m thinking…  (I couldn’t find a door that resembled ours but the laundry room door will be a French door like these to match the ones in the living room.)

What do you call this?  Parisian?  Farmhouse?  Rustic?  Urban?  No idea.  But I likey.

Since we have so much black and white, I really wanted some wood tones and natural textures to make it feel less stark and more cozy.  (Affiliate links are provided below for convenience.)

• I found an antique farm table recently on Craigslist for $100 that was the perfect size and shape we needed for this small-ish space.
• I scored some Parisian bistro chairs for $75 each at T.J.Maxx recently (which is a total steal for those) that will be great for wiping clean after messy dinners with Olivia.
• I love how easy and durable jute rugs are so we’ll likely be utilizing one in here.  Plus, it adds that cozy factor.
• I would like to swap out the semi-flush mount for a lantern style pendant.  This one is less than $100 and looks a lot like a New Orleans gas light.
• The wall decor is actually an antique junky repurpose project I’ve been working on that I’ll share more about next week!
