Just when you thought we were all wrapped up with the paint reveals… nope, not even close. They really do make for the best transformations. I mean, if we’re being honest, you could probably sum up 90% of this blog with one word: paint.
After the living room, the breakfast nook, and the dining room, the laundry room was next on our list.
1. Because we had Lowe’s delivering a washer and dryer and realized we needed to jump on it stat if we wanted to avoid working around those hefty things.
2. Who wants to paint a laundry room when you have actual laundry to do?
This is what it looked like the last time I shared it in the new house before tour:
It actually was a pretty nice color to begin with, but it just felt dirty for some reason. And those cabinets really needed a lot of love.
I recently discovered the color Sherwin Williams Slate Tile, and I became so obsessed, I had to buy a gallon ASAP. So it became the star of the show in here.
Much better, right? My amazing father-in-law pitched in and took over painting all of the millions of details and cut-in work in this room. Do you see that ceiling?! Oy vey. Trim upon trim upon trim.
Every square inch of white from the ceiling to the molding to the cabinets got a coat of Benjamin Moore Simply White, and it has made for the best refresher ever.
We really have gotten so lucky with this laundry room since there is already tons of storage and little nooks that will make our daily lives much easier once we have a system in place.
Sometime soon, I’ll be hanging hooks on this white board to store coats and bags when we walk in along with something decorative above it to give this space some personality.
I’ve never been so excited about pegboard in my whole life. Hello, cleaning supply storage heaven! (I feel like Monica Geller just saying that.)
Since our kitchen doesn’t have a pantry, some of these cabinets will likely store some of our dry goods. I’m currently working on a hamper system and shoe storage system too. The cabinet doors are still in the garage waiting to be painted. I’ll get there eventually.
If there was ever the perfect floor to paint, I think this one would be it. Pretty sure it’s seen better days, and I’ve always wanted to try painting vinyl flooring anyway. #NothingToLose
At some point, I would love to change out the lighting in here and figure out a solution to disguise our electrical box. And we’ll be replacing the broken bi-fold door very soon with something nicer to look at and more functional. I’m already so happy with the progress in here though.
Which brings me to a few questions…
What lighting would you use in a space like this? Should I stencil the floor or paint it one solid color? (Have you ever painted flooring?) Got any ideas to disguise that box? Would you add a shade of some kind to the window or leave it bare? Do you have any kick-butt organizing systems that are your sanity savers? Sooooo many ideas!!!
