Repurposed Chafing Dish Lid Wall Hooks

A thrifty solution for using leftover chafing dish lids as towel hooks in a bathroom.

On today’s episode of thrift store leftovers: the chafing dish lid.

We’ve worked with a lot of leftovers around here.  You know the outcast pieces left on shelves at the thrift store that you look at and think, “Who on earth would buy that?”

This girl, as it turns out.

Because as soon as I saw these random dish-less silver chafing dish lids, I thought “wall hooks”.

And we needed towel hooks for the master bathroom anyway so… ta da!

I hung them up with these plate hangers and so far so good.

I decided not to polish them before hanging them up just because I loved the look of the old patina.  And the moisture in the bathroom will cause them to tarnish anyway, so they’ll keep that weathered effect.

I placed them on either side of our window to keep them in easy reach of the shower and also because the only other spot to put them would be right beside the toilet… bleck.

And so many of y’all talked me into hanging up a curtain to cover the shower door, so I put up this semi-sheer curtain to still allow some light in.  I’m totally sold!

It doesn’t get in the way at all like I was afraid it would.  And the stripes are actually jute ropes that tie in perfectly with the window shade and woven baskets in the room.

We finally painted the door Benjamin Moore Wrought Iron to match all of the others in the house too, and we hung up these wooden arched mirrors that are too perfect!

That beige countertop isn’t looking quite as much like a sore thumb as it used to.

So once we have wall art and a couple of little touches, this space is finished… at least until an actual reno in a couple of years.

If you want to look back at any of the other sources/colors/projects we’ve done in our master bathroom, you can see them all here:
