How to Photograph Interiors Like a Pro

The best course for teaching you how to photograph interiors and jumpstart your career as a blogger, interior designer, real estate photographer, or stylist.

Maybe I should title this post “True Confessions of a Bad Photographer”.  Because four years ago, that’s exactly what I was.  Bad.  Really embarrassingly bad at taking photos.

If you don’t believe me, feel free to dig through the archives of this blog dating back to January 2014. (They’re still there because I firmly believe in embracing your journey.)

I chugged along posting these yellowy, grainy photos just hoping that eventually I could buy the fancy lighting and invest in the expensive editing software to make my pictures look like all of the gorgeous ones I’d seen in magazines and on Pinterest.

Then I learned really quickly… it’s hard.  Like REALLY RIDICULOUSLY HARD!

But then I met my blogger bestie, Rachel Paxton, who you may know as the blogger behind Maison de Pax.  And she showed me so many tips and tricks to use exactly the tools I already had to make my sad little womp-womp photos into something I was finally proud of.

My little beginner level DSLR wasn’t the problem.  It was the very inexperienced, unsure photographer behind it.  Who’d a thunk?

Because sometimes it’s so easy to say to yourself, “If I only bought this one pricey piece of equipment, THEN I would have the answer to all of my problems.”

But it doesn’t matter if you have the most expensive camera in the world with the best lens ever made.  If you don’t have the know-how to use it, that fancy camera equipment might as well be another hunk of junk collecting dust in your closet.

I had no idea that the potential for great photos was right there at my fingertips before Rachel taught me how.  It was just a matter of putting it into practice and learning from those flawed photos to transform them into something that could carry my blog into an actual career.

So now, that bad photographer four years later has had her photos published in national magazines and worked with some of the top brands in the industry and shared her projects with millions of people on the web.  I feel like I need to pinch myself when I realize that girl is me!

Little me?  The stay-at-home mom who craved a creative outlet during her little one’s nap times and just picked up a camera one day to share her thrift store makeovers with her mom?

I owe so much of that to Rachel for being the sweet friend she is and showing me how to take my skills to the next level every step of the way when I wanted to give up.

The moral of the story is YOU have so much to give in this world.  God gave you talents that I bet you haven’t even discovered yet.  It just maybe takes dedication to find it.

Don’t you dare tell yourself that you’re dreaming too big.

Rachel is a former high school English teacher like I am, and it is so obvious in her course as her instruction is easy to understand and well thought out with visual lessons demonstrated on video.

She teaches the basics of the Exposure Triangle all the way to capturing the best lighting in all sorts of conditions.  And she has a big unit of bonuses (that I have used and love) including how to capture holiday lights and candlelight, how to shoot people in your styled interior shots, and how to create flatlays.

The course is currently open with early bird pricing at $297 until Thursday, September 13th at midnight.  (Tomorrow!)
