Sunny Yellow Play Table Makeover

If you ever feel like catapulting yourself into a time warp, come over to our house to visit… because currently, we have fall decor and Christmas decor battling it out.  And my latest makeover has a sunny summer vibe just to make things extra confusing.

But hey, anything to distract us from the election drama, right?

Later this week, I am revealing our ginormous playroom makeover!  But I have to hold off my excitement just a tad longer and squeeze in one last playroom project for this month’s Trash to Treasure Transformation Tuesday.  (If you want to see my other thrifty transformations, click here.)

This time around, this play table and these chairs were my victim.

Technically, we already owned this sweet little set but it needed some love.  Totally counts as thrifted though, right?

Olivia’s great-grandmother gave it to her as a birthday present a couple of years ago, but since then it’s been drawn all over and had Play-Doh and stickers stuck to it and who-knows-what dirty smudges everywhere.

I had the idea to paint the chairs a bright yellow (Little Star by Fusion Mineral Paint) to coordinate with our playroom scheme and the table a simple white (Casement by Fusion Mineral Paint) to keep the set from being too overpowering.

Look how cute!

It literally took me an hour and this little set was good as new.  The magic that paint alone can do always amazes me.

The chairs even ended up looking a bit like these from Pottery Barn Kids.

I found these adorable wooden cupcakes to put on a small metal cake stand I had and Olivia has had a blast playing tea party with her baby dolls.

And because I can’t resist…

That’s a little sneak peek of another playroom project we’ve been finishing up.  Eek!  Okay, I’ll stop.

Somehow, I’ve ended up with a Dr. Seuss vibe in here and that wasn’t at all intentional.  Happy accident.

I guarantee you this table and chairs set won’t stay perfect for all that long, but I’m totally okay with that. This is a spot where I hope Olivia can build and explore and get messy… because growing and learning isn’t usually a tidy process.
