5 Ideas for Creative Thanksgiving Entertaining

Easy and inexpensive decorating, entertaining ideas, and recipe for a memorable Thanksgiving.

Well, hello there! I’m honored to be posting for my sweet friend Lauren today while she soaks up all of those new baby snuggles!

I’m Nina from Nina Hendrick Design Co. I live in Massachusetts with my husband Mack, our three kiddos, and our golden retriever Lucy. On my blog and Instagram, I share little peeks into our life renovating our 1980s colonial, organizing, and entertaining with a New England spin.

Speaking of entertaining, today I thought I would share some of my favorite ideas for hosting Thanksgiving! We seem to host most often since we are the only ones with kids on both sides of our families. We have had a lot of practice with simple but creative Thanksgiving ideas!

I love that Thanksgiving is about togetherness and thankfulness. It’s such a great reminder to pause and soak up all we have around us!

5 Ideas for Creative Thanksgiving Entertaining | Cider Bar

1. Put Together a Cider Bar

This idea is always a hit at every fall gathering! Having an autumn themed table loaded with goodies reminiscent of apple picking is a fun seasonal treat. You can even go crazy with your apple cider and add all sorts of fun flavors and mulling spices. Don’t forget the cider donuts!

2. Plan a Menu with Family Favorites

Thanksgiving Food. Oh my goodness. Need I say more? Everyone has family favorites! Two in ours are this Sweet Cornbread recipe and Cape Cod Cranberry Sauce made in the pressure cooker. If you’re like me and always burn the pumpkin pie, these Mini No-Bake Pumpkin Pies are an easy crowd-pleaser!

5 Ideas for Creative Thanksgiving Entertaining - Pumpkin and Eucalyptus Centerpiece

3. Create a Simple Centerpiece

This tablescape was pretty simple with just heirloom pumpkins and eucalyptus. It looks so pretty, but can be moved easily. It can even be left if you’re doing a buffet style holiday. The elements are low enough that you can easily keep conversations going above them!

5 Ideas for Creative Thanksgiving Entertaining | Thankful Write-On Table Runner

4. Thankful Write-On Table Runner

I love the simple idea of using a kraft paper roll as a runner and leaving felt-tipped pens around the table. Everyone is able to write what they are thankful for! It is a fun dinner activity and conversation starter. Not to mention, it’s wonderful to eat a table that is holding so much positivity!

5 Ideas for Creative Thanksgiving Entertaining | Rosemary and Twine Place Setting

5. A Sweet and Simple Place Setting

This idea uses twine and a kraft tag along with a sprig of rosemary. You can label each tag with a guest’s name or just a sentiment. It is lovely and smells SO good! Not only does this concept work well for Thanksgiving, but it works for Christmas as well.

I hope that these Thanksgiving ideas were inspiring and may even help you save some time as you gather with your friends and family this holiday season. Wishing Lauren and her family all the best, as well as you and yours!
