Easter Brunch Bar

Low key.  Those have been my two words to live by the last few weeks.

I mean, that sounds way better than “lazy”, right?

Our Saturday mornings spent in our pajamas until noon and our Chinese take-out dinners and our Lunchables thrown into plastic Walmart bags in a mad rush to preschool every morning, those are so not lazy.

They’re low key.   Because calling it lazy is so not cool.  But calling it “low key” and “simple” and “understated”?  Martha Stewart would be totally fine with it.  Right?  I mean, who’s walking around being the “low key” police?

So in a few weeks, guess what else is going to be low key.  Our Easter brunch.

Today, I’m joining in with Lory from Designthusiasm for another round of her Styled and Set Holiday Entertaining Blog Tour.  If you’re visiting from Janet’s pretty tablescape at ShabbyFufu, I’m so glad you’re here!

A few days ago, I finally took down the Christmas hot cocoa bar that had been hanging out here since November.  (It’s not lazy.  Come on. We talked about this.)

Then I tossed my dry-shampooed hair into a messy bun Sunday morning and whipped our kitchen’s thrift store coffee bar into shape for a springy pre-church brunch.  And by “whipped it into shape” I mean I replaced the evergreen garland with spring greens, filled a pitcher with grocery store flowers, and swapped the holiday silver for robin egg blue plates.

Oh, yeah, and food.  Because I guess it’s not really brunch without muffins, fruit, and mini frittatas (that may or may not have been reheated from a box).

But can I tell you a secret?  When you bust out fancy cake pedestals and classic white servers, no one will ever guess brunch took you 5 minutes to make.  That home decor wardrobe capsule saves me every time.

And if there’s coffee, that’s half the battle won right there anyway.  #CoffeeFixesEverything

In the midst of dressing up in our Easter best in our rush out the door for church and opening Easter baskets and prepping Easter dinner and preparing for Easter egg hunts, maybe we could all use a little “low key”.  And really maybe we could use “low key” every single day, holiday or not.  Because giving ourselves grace is better than eating chocolate bunnies. (And that’s saying something.)
