Christmas Village Snow Globe Centerpiece

If I had a nickel for every time spray paint came to the rescue… well, I’d have a lot of nickels.  I lost count.

When I’m walking through the thrift store during my weekly visit (because ya know, frequent stop-ins is how you find the good stuff) half the time I think to myself, “Spray paint would make that look amazing.”

This old Christmas village set I scored for $8 was definitely one of them:

And it turns out, they were destined to end up inside of a couple of old clock domes I snagged at the thrift store last year:

Supplies Used: (Some affiliate links are provided below for convenience.)

• Rustoleum Semi-Gloss White Spray Paint
• Christmas village figurines (if you don’t have much luck at the thrift store, they’re all over eBay… go for the cheapo ones, not the high-dollar collectibles)
• Dome clocks (those are on eBay too, but I usually find them way cheaper for around $6 at the thrift store)
• Domed cake stand (I just had one of these already in our kitchen and figured I’d put it to good use.)
• Fake snow 
• Bottle brush trees (Mine came from the Target Dollar Spot.)
• Christmas tree clippings (that I got for free from our town’s Christmas tree lot. Just ask the workers, they usually don’t mind having them taken off of their hands.)

I just sprayed two coats of the Rustoleum spray paint on the figurines (P.S. Rustoleum has way better coverage than Krylon, in my experience).

For the dome clocks, I used a screw driver to take out all of the clock parts and painted the bases using my weathered wood method with chalk paint and wax.

Then just stuck the little houses under the domes with some fake snow and bottle brush trees…

Isn’t it cuuuuuuute?!  I put it all together as a centerpiece on our kitchen table.

I’ll be very surprised if Olivia doesn’t toss the fake snow all over the house by the time Christmas Day rolls around, but she is in heaven every time we sit at the table to eat breakfast and dinner every day.

It does feel like a little touch of Christmas magic.  Only thing missing is maybe a big batch of cinnamon rolls on a lazy December Saturday morning.  Thinking that needs to happen…

I’ll be sharing more of our house all decked out for Christmas really soon, but I couldn’t resist posting this one ahead of time.  I think we’re going to need more dome clocks and house figurines because Olivia is begging to make more of these cute little snow globes.
