Can we agree that spring is officially here? Once those pastel blossoms start bursting open on the trees, there’s no going back for me. (If it snows, I’ll just be in denial over here.)
There’s something so symbolic about spring that makes me feel more alive. There’s an extra sense of hope and promise about good days to come when evidence of new life is fresh all around us. Those sunny, warm days with birds chirping and honey bees humming just make me want to plant myself on a porch swing somewhere.
So to welcome spring and Easter this year, I’m joining up with Kristen from Ella Claire Inspired and some talented blogger friends for an Easter printable tour.
Normally, I can just whip up a quick design (like I’ve shared how to do in Picmonkey), print it off, and put it in a frame in about 2 minutes. But I wanted to do something a little different this time by making a DIY hanging Easter scroll to hang on our wall. It’s so easy, makes a big impact, and it looks much more expensive than it really is.
Supplies used: (Some affiliate links are provided below for convenience.)
- An engineering print of your printable (you can choose whatever size you want from Staples, but I used an 18″x24″. You can download my printable at the end of this post.)
- 2 square dowel rods from the hardware store
- Stain or dark furniture wax
- Rag or wax brush
- Hand saw
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Twine
I printed my engineering print in color at Staples for about $3.
For the length of the dowels, I just marked both of them about an inch wider than my engineering print and cut with a hand saw.
And I used some espresso furniture wax with a wax brush I already had in my stash to age the dowels. You could use wood stain and a rag too, if you wanted.
Once the dowels are dry, run a bead of hot glue along the top edge on the front of your engineering print and immediately position and press one of your dowels in place on top of the glue. Repeat the process for the bottom of the print with the second dowel.
Cut a piece of twine about two inches longer than the width of your engineering print.
On the back, at the top of your print behind the top dowel, hot glue each end of your twin in place with a scrap square of paper on top to secure it, and let it dry.
Hang it up and ta da! An easy and fancy hanging Easter scroll. You can really design anything you want and print it this way to little a bit more antique. The whole thing for the print and dowels cost me about $8 and took about 15 minutes to make. Score!
Since we’re currently living with my parents while we wait to close on the new house next month, I took over their foyer for a few minutes to photograph a quick Easter vignette on their little entry table.
I picked up these flowers at HomeGoods the other day for about $25 that I can use forever and ever. Don’t they look so real?!
And I just printed out this vintage graphic to frame that originally came from a seed catalog in 1904.
I found this driftwood succulent planter at HomeGoods recently too. And this moss & thyme candle I got at Target smells like absolute heaven!

Every time I read this printable now, I instantly start singing the Nicole C. Mullen song in my head. Instant day brightener and always the reminder I need.
