Apothecary Jar Terrarium Easter Centerpiece

I cheated.  I photographed this post’s Easter centerpiece all the way back in February.  Just laying the straight up truth out there and not even going to pretend like this table decor was not pre-meditated.  😉

Every so often, I join up with a crazy talented group of home decor blogger friends for the Styled and Set Holiday Entertaining Blog Tour hosted by Lory from Designthusiasm.  If you’re visiting from Ella Claire, welcome!

So I realized amidst packing boxes last month that I should probably set down the packing tape for a few minutes and throw together a quick Easter table.  And you know what?  I’m so glad I did.

When I get stressed out and start feeling anxious, there’s nothing that calms me down more than to take a few moments to create something.  I’ll crank up my Mumford and Sons Pandora station and paint a piece of furniture or redecorate the living room or put together a tablescape just because when I create something, I feel at peace.  I can’t even explain it.  Do you do the same thing or is that just me?

So amidst the chaos in every other room of our house at the time, this centerpiece was my refuge for a little while.  Is that totally crazy?

It all happened completely by accident because I had just gathered up all of the glassware around our house to wrap up and pack away in a box.

As I was looking around for inspiration, I realized these apothecary jars that we normally had on our kitchen countertops and bathroom shelves for organizing baking dry goods, cotton balls, and soaps would be perfect to fill with some moss and artificial flowers instead.

Not bad for a quick off-the-cuff repurpose, huh?

Most of these little fake flowers just came from the dollar store.  Don’t tell on them though.  They think they’re fancy.

I’d found this moss table runner a few weeks earlier, and it turned out to be perfect for an Easter grass sort of look.  It’s 100% fake!  I’d have never guessed by just looking at it.

And these dip-dye napkins reminded me a little of Easter egg dying.  I’m sure they could easily be made using some simple cotton fabric and dipping them in teal Rit dye.  (I would have attempted it myself if we didn’t have a ton of other things going on.)

The rest of it was just decor I already had.  I’d used these plastic speckled eggs for my Easter table last year too, and these driftwood chargers and twig placemats are my favorite because they add tons of texture to the table at any time of year.  Neutrals are awesome like that.
