Rustic Glam Fall Entryway

A big thanks to CJ Affiliate’s VIP Content Service and Pier 1 for sponsoring this post.   As always, all content and opinions are 100% my own.

Our house has a mullet floor plan.

You know… business in the front, party in the back?

That’s what I called it when Robert and I were choosing our floor plan with our home builder three years ago.  The back of our house, where the living room and kitchen are is chaotic all the time- toys tossed around, dishes leftover from breakfast sometimes (always) sitting on the counter, stacks of laundry piled on our stairs.

Pier 1 (1 of 1)

But the front of our house, the entryway, that’s where we look fancy.  Because that’s our home’s first impression, where even if the rest of our home looks like we just hosted a frat party, at least our hallway bench looks welcoming.

It’s where I love having extra fun with our fall decor because it’s my unspoken way of telling our guests, “We’re thankful to have you.”

Ever since I found this old wagon bench on Craigslist a couple of years ago, I’ve loved playing with the decor around it for the changing seasons.

This year, I gave it the decorating version of stillettos and lipstick.  Glitter, baby. 😉

If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you know the word “glam” doesn’t show up very often around here.  But I’ve had such a love for copper this fall that I went metallic crazy at Pier 1 to spiff up our entryway.

I blame it on this cute copper glass pumpkin that followed me home.

I usually like incorporating lots of opposites in our home- balancing feminine with masculine, dark with light, glam with rustic.

So these black lanterns balanced out my glam copper pumpkin with the rustic I love.

Magnolia is one of my favorite types of greenery to put in our house, so this metallic magnolia leaf garland was too pretty to pass up.

And to change things up a little bit from my Irish Blessing Sign, I found this dramatic feather art that just screamed Thanksgiving to me.  But it’s not so “Thanksgiving-y” that I can’t display it year-round.

I always have some sort of seasonal wreath hanging above our bench too, and this metallic fall wreath worked perfectly with the rest of the copper details.

Since we have a lot of teal and mint throughout the rest of our house, I decided to throw in some blue tones over here too.

I keep stealing this blue throw blanket from over here to snuggle up with on our couch because it’s soooo super soft.  I think I’m ready to pick up a whole bunch of them for Christmas presents this year.

So now, if you ever visit our house, and you walk through the front door and think we’re all fancy… it might be a little bit deceiving.

The glam stops here… unless you count the glamorous tiara-wearing princess-loving 4 year-old running around.

Do you have a mullet kind of house too?  The chaotic party in the back with the good intentioned welcoming entryway in the front?  No matter what state our house is in though, I’m so thankful for the family and friends that take the time to visit us.  I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  Shove a pile of laundry aside and make yourself at home. 😉
