If you asked me five years ago that this blog would one day be my full-time career, I would have called you crazy. It absolutely BLOWS MY MIND that I get to wake up every day and do a job that doesn’t feel like a job at all.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s still work, and it took a whole lot of work to even get here.

In my first year of blogging, basically only my mom read about our projects in our first home.

Robert and I took a leap of faith to have me leave my high school teaching job to be a stay-at-home mom to Olivia, who was 1 at the time. I painted thrifted furniture in our garage during her nap times as a way to have a creative outlet and furnish/decorate our empty, character-less house that we couldn’t afford to furnish any other way.

In my second year of blogging, what little bit of money I made in ads, I spent over half to sink right back into investing in this baby website of mine for a new laptop, a new website design, and a decent camera lens.

In my third year of blogging, I hit a huge milestone by adding affiliates and matching my former teacher salary.

In my fourth year of blogging, I started taking on more sponsored posts (only for brands I trusted and genuinely loved) and doubled my former teacher salary.

In my fifth year of blogging, by focusing my efforts on SEO and my email newsletter, it grew even more.

Now in my sixth, Robert is blogging with me full-time as we juggle ALL of the massive jobs that many people don’t see behind-the-scenes with the hope that we can one day take this crazy venture of ours into other people’s homes by renovating, staging, and/or consulting. (Or whatever God has planned for us because we know He was, is, and always will be in control.)
